The Royal Coachman Lodge operates from June through September, offering a prime window for experiencing Alaska's legendary salmon runs and trophy trout. Early season, from June into July, is dominated by the arrival of King Salmon, with the Nushagak River boasting prolific runs and coastal streams providing fresh, aggressive fish ideal for fly or spin fishing. As summer progresses into August, the focus shifts to the aggressive Silver Salmon, which can be caught on dry flies and are known for their acrobatic fights, with prime fishing on the Nushagak and coastal streams. September ushers in the peak season for trophy Rainbow Trout, with these formidable fish actively feeding on salmon roe, making indicator fishing and egg patterns highly effective. This is also a prime time for the vibrant Arctic Char, often found in stunning spawning colors, and the abundant Arctic Grayling, which readily take dry flies. Throughout the season, anglers can also target Northern Pike, Dolly Varden, Lake Trout, and Sheefish, offering a diverse angling experience that capitalizes on the unique seasonal movements and feeding behaviors of these species in the pristine waters of Bristol Bay.
