Kulik Lodge

Kulik Lodge sits on the Kulik River between Nonvianuk and Kulik lakes, founded by Alaska aviation pioneer Ray Petersen as the first fly-out lodge in Alaska. The fishing season at Kulik Lodge runs from June 8th through September 29th, offering a dynamic experience centered around the incredible rainbow trout and salmon runs of Bristol Bay. Early June kicks off with the 'fry fishing' phenomenon, where newly hatched salmon fry become a primary food source for resident rainbow and lake trout. This period is characterized by aggressive, visual takes as trout erupt on bait balls, offering a unique and exciting dry-fly-like experience on the Kulik River and its tributaries. As the season progresses, the focus shifts with the arrival of various salmon species. The Nushagak River becomes a prime destination for targeting King Salmon, known for their power and size, while the Kvichak River offers opportunities for trophy-sized resident rainbow trout, often referred to as 'silver bullets,' that feed on the massive sockeye runs. The latter half of the season, particularly into August and September, sees the Kamishak River become a hotspot for Silver Salmon and Arctic Char, offering a different but equally rewarding angling challenge. Throughout the season, the lodge's fly-out program provides access to a multitude of legendary rivers and streams within a 100-mile radius, ensuring anglers can pursue the best available fishing based on run timing and conditions.
