These salmon average around 5 lb, though larger specimens, like the 19 lb beauty caught in 2018, are certainly possible in the best pools of the Farrar and Glass rivers, particularly near their confluence into the Beauly River. Trout fishing opens earlier, from March 15th and running through to October 6th. Anglers can target trout in the River Glass, known for its larger specimens, or the River Farrar, which offers higher quantities of smaller fish. For a more serene experience, the hill loch Loch an Airidh Fhroaich, nestled in the native Caley pinewood of Strathfarrar, provides trout averaging 1 lb. For those seeking a more remote adventure, Loch Beannacharan in Strathfarrar, fished from a boat, can yield a handsome bag of trout in spectacular surroundings. Pike fishing is available year-round, offering a thrilling pursuit for anglers. The River Glass is renowned for its large pike, with guests regularly catching and releasing specimens over 20 lb, and even exceeding 33 lb in 2018.
