Nygard Lodge

Located in Vindøla, Nygard Lodge has operated since 2007 as a dedicated Atlantic salmon fly-fishing destination on the Surna River system. The fishing year at Nygard Lodge is defined by the Atlantic Salmon's annual run up the Surna River, with the season officially running from June 1st to September 1st. Early summer, particularly June, calls for heavier gear – think 14' to 16' rods and sinking lines – as the salmon are typically strong and fresh from the sea. As the season progresses into July and August, the water levels may recede, and the salmon can become more selective, often favoring lighter tackle like 12' to 14' rods with lighter lines. The lodge's prime waters, including the legendary Advokaten, Sæterhølen, and Talgøypollen pools, are known for holding large salmon, with average weights around 10 pounds, and catches can range from 200 to 600 fish per season.
