Beaverkill Valley Inn

Type: fishing_lodge | Status: published | Tier: standard | Fishiness: 5/5

Historic Victorian inn on the banks of the Beaverkill River with private water access.

The Beaverkill Valley Inn is a beautifully restored Victorian estate dating back to 1893, set on 63 acres along the legendary Beaverkill River. The inn offers a rare combination of period charm and modern comfort, with private access to over a mile of the most storied trout water in America. Anglers have gathered here for over a century to fish the same pools that gave birth to American fly fishing. The inn features elegant common rooms with stone fireplaces, a well-stocked library of fishing literature, and a wraparound porch overlooking the river. Meals are served family-style in the dining room, emphasizing locally sourced Catskills ingredients.

Michael R.5/5The holy grail of East Coast fly fishing lodges

Stayed for a long weekend in June. The private water is everything it's cracked up to be — I had a pool to myself for hours and landed a 20-inch brown on a sulphur emerger. The inn itself is gorgeous, meals were outstanding, and the staff genuinely cares about your experience. Already booked for next year.

Sarah K.5/5Perfect for a mixed couple

My husband lives for fly fishing and I'm more of a hiker/reader. This place worked for both of us perfectly. He fished all day while I explored the property trails and read on the porch. We met up for incredible dinners. The Victorian rooms are charming without being stuffy.

David L.4/5Historic and beautiful, but bring your A game

The inn is stunning and the private water is a privilege. That said, these are educated Beaverkill trout — don't expect easy fishing. I'd have given 5 stars if they had more rod rental options. Still, an absolute bucket-list stay for any serious fly angler.

Patricia M.5/5Third year in a row — it keeps getting better

We've made this our annual September trip. The fall colors on the property are unreal, the trout are aggressive heading into winter, and they've upgraded the menu again this year. The bunk room is a great deal for our group of four. Can't recommend it enough.

James W.4/5Beautiful property, pricey but worth it

Not cheap, but you're paying for private access to legendary water and genuinely excellent hospitality. The two-night minimum during peak season is fair — you need at least that long to fish the private stretch properly. Tip: book the Riverside King if you can.
