The prime season for walleye is typically in early spring during their spawning period, though they remain abundant throughout the summer. Northern pike are plentiful in the weed beds through mid-season and move to deeper waters in late spring and early fall, with August often yielding the largest pike, including impressive 48-inch specimens. Lake trout fishing is excellent year-round, with early spring and early fall providing opportunities in shallower waters, while summer sees them retreating to cooler, deeper holes between 60 to 90 feet. The "Fall Trout Bonanza" in early autumn is a special window, typically a couple of weeks, when lake trout move closer to the surface to spawn, becoming highly aggressive and accessible, often caught even from the lodge dock.
