As May progresses, the Coho salmon begin to make their appearance, adding another exciting dimension to the offshore bite. The late spring and early summer, particularly June and July, are excellent for larger Coho and Chinook, while bottom fishing for Halibut and Ling Cod remains consistently productive. August and September transition into a thrilling wildlife safari, with opportunities for large Northern Coho and the highly sought-after Tuna. This period is also noted for its big Halibut and continued Ling Cod action, provided the weather cooperates. September is considered a hidden gem, offering abundant Northern Coho and sizable Chinook. For those targeting Chum salmon, their return to the rivers occurs in late September and October, providing a strong finish to the season with fish typically weighing between 10 and 18 pounds. While winter fishing is possible, it's highly weather-dependent, making the spring through fall the most reliable and diverse fishing experience.
